Skincare

I’ve spent too many years learning about skin to keep this shit to myself.

As a makeup artist in my early days, I learned about how to care for skin underneath the makeup. I then joined the cult-favorite skincare brand Keihl’s. Kiehl’s taught me the science of skin and product development. I cultivated an understanding of the value of using natural ingredients when effective while being open to safe chemicals when necessary.

My skin is moderately sensitive and acne prone. These recommendations come from a focus on keeping skin clear, hydrated, and healthy for the long run.

Morning

Cleansing

Micellar water on a cotton pad

Acne treatment

Obagi Pore Therapy Salicylic Acid toner on a folded square of toilet paper (I’ve tried many other Salicylic Acid products and not one of them did anything. I can tell a difference if I go a day without using this product)

Moisturizer

KAHI Wrinkle Bounce Core Cream

^^^This website is the only one I trust for buying Korean products

SPF

Last step before makeup primer every morning (face, neck, and chest)!

Beauty of Joseon

The hype is real on this one. I tried chemical and mineral sunscreens from all the top US and Korean brands. My skin loves this one best.

Evening

Cleansing Part 1

Cleansing balm

Cleansing Part 2

Calendula Foaming Cleanser

OR

Cleansing Powder for travel

Extras

Exfoliation Stick

Blackhead Scrub Stick

For areas with sebaceous filaments or scaring.

I haven’t tried any other brands of scrub stick, but I don’t think there’s anything special about this one.

LED Therapy

This LED mask has done wonders for my skin. It’s outrageously expensive. I got it on FB Marketplace for $85.

LED therapy sometimes cause my melasma to act up, so I recommend investing in a hand-held LED device first to see if your whole face enjoys it. I learned by using this hand-held device that my forehead is the only area that doesn’t like the light so I cover it when using the face mask.

There are cheaper versions of each of these and there are also fake versions. Do some research about LED light therapy to know what to look for if you want to find a device at a lower price point.

Body Moisturizer

Creme de Corps

Don’t even question me on this one. I did so much research about body lotions and how most of them actually dry skin out. Get a big bottle and a travel size. Refill the travel size from the big bottle (get a refill pouch to refill both bottles in the future).

Cover your whole body the moment you step out of the shower and lightly towel-dry.

It’ll change your life.

SPF to reapply over makeup

SuperGoop Mineral Powder

This is not enough to be your only SPF. Use the product listed above every single day. This is for reapplying at lunch or throughout the day at a Formula 1 race.

Body Exfoliation

DermStone

I use this in the shower on my whole body.

Pumice Stone

I use this in the shower on the bottom of my feet and heels to keep them soft.
